Everlane: Gifts that Go the Extra Mile

Everlane1.JPG

It’s no secret that I am a long-time supporter and advocate of Everlane. Over the years, their exceptional quality products have become the standard in my closet. From the timeless sweaters, to the everyday tees, to the most comfortable footwear I’ve ever owned, their modern basics have proved to hold up well and transition through the seasons seamlessly, regardless of the latest trends.

This holiday season, I am honored to support Everlane’s holiday initiative which revolves around gifts that go the extra mile; going the extra mile for your friends, family, and especially for the planet. This includes items from all of Everlane’s sustainably-focused collections like ReNew, ReCashmere, Tread, and more.

You have a choice when it comes to how you spend your money. When gift shopping this holiday season, consider searching for brands that are transparent about their production process, supply chain, environmental impact, and labor policies. I truly believe how and where we spend our money is a direct reflection of what we deem most important, not just around the holidays, but each and every day of the year. Fewer, better products from great brands is a wonderful way to show your support during the holiday season.

My ideal outfit is simple, warm, and comfortable with just a touch of edge, and these closet staples do just that. Whether I’m headed into the office, to daycare drop-off with Marin, running to the grocery on a Friday evening, or simply working from home, these pieces hit the nail on the head every single time. Some may call it a uniform, I just say it’s what I naturally reach for on a daily basis and makes me feel like myself.

Everlane's new line, the ReNew Collection, is outerwear that's made with recycled plastic bottles as an eco-friendly alternative. Its part of the company's ambitious 2021 goal to eliminate all virgin plastics from its supply chain. This Military Parka is made of 100% recycled polyester derived from plastic water bottles, and the t-shirt 60% recycled cotton.

Black on black on black with just a touch of denim. This outfit is perfect for those cold and snowy days, especially the boots. I absolutely love these Western Boots that came out a few months ago. I have worn them too many times to count and love how sturdy yet easy they are to slip on and off. I sprayed mine to ensure they would be protected from the elements, but they don’t feel delicate at all. These will be seeing a lot more wear over the coming months.

Everlane has always centered itself around ethical business practices, transparency with consumers, and sustainability. Its new ReCashmere collection is the latest example of that. Each piece in the ReCashmere collection is made with 60% recycled cashmere and 40% extra-fine merino wool sourced from ethical ranchers. Not only are the sweaters more sustainably made, but they're also more affordable than Everlane's traditional cashmere counterparts.

By partnering with an environmentally-conscious mill in Prato, Italy, ReCashmere is made by collecting well-worn cashmere through recycling programs. The recycled materials are then sorted by color, combed, and spun with responsible extra-fine merino wool from non-mulesed sheep. The end result is a 60/40-blend of recycled cashmere and merino wool, which is naturally sustainable. It's just as soft as their 100% Grade-A cashmere, but with half the carbon footprint.

Everlane has become well known for their quality denim, but did you know that they also utilize the world’s cleanest denim factory? Unlike typical manufacturers, their LEED-certified facility is run off alternative energy sources, has 98% of water recycled, 85% of denim air-dried, and byproducts repurposed to build affordable housing.

These 90s Cheeky Straight jeans are Everlane’s take on vintage denim, and they truly look and feel like your favorite pair of vintage jeans. While more relaxed than the original Cheeky Straight jean, these are comfortable enough to lounge around at home but tailored enough to be worn out and about. I would definitely recommend sizing down if you want a more fitted look. I wear a 26 in Everlane’s Authentic Stretch denim but took a 25 in these and could have sized down to a 24.

Everlane’s new ReNew underwear includes minimalist, seamless styles made from 87% recycled nylon. I have a set in all three colors and find them to be extremely comfortable. I’ve worn their Supima cotton underwear for several years, but the sleek lines and material of this new collection is fantastic and doesn’t stick to clothing at all.
