Capsule Wardrobe // Tyler's January Summary
Two months in to our winter capsule wardrobes, and we're both extremely happy with our picks! From my perspective, the winter capsule has been pretty easy because winter in Indiana has been so mild! November in my fall capsule was a whole lot worse with those frigid temperatures and snow. I was NOT prepared for such drastic changes - especially without a winter coat. Either way, Tyler and I are quickly adjusting our lifestyle and habits to maximize a simplified wardrobe.
As we enter into the final month of our winter capsule, we are excited to start sharing our plans moving forward. Through-out the month of February, we will be talking about our take on simple and how we plan to adapt the "capsule wardrobe" to what works best for us long term. Stay tuned!
But first, let's wrap up January by looking at a few of Tyler's favorite outfits from the month.
To say that Tyler likes his Timberland boots would probably be the understatement of the year. He talked about buying these things for MONTHS, but they were just pricey and never seemed to go on sale. At the end of the day, there is nothing worse than sore feet, right? I'd rather spend twice as much on a good pair of shoes that I'll wear to death. These things fit the bill!
Navy Brushed Twill Jack ; Taylor Stitch // Faded Black Chinos ; J.Crew // Tobacco Military Boot (similar) ; Cole Haan // Braun X Dieter Rams Watch (similar) : Mr. Porter // Brown Leather Belt w/ Silver Buckle ; Everlane
This is a typical work day outfit. A warm button-up, chinos, and tall boots. Can you ever go wrong with tall leather boots? We found these things at the Cole Haan outlet a few years ago, and I think they're still my favorite thing he owns.
Buffalo Check ; J.Crew // Gray Vest (similar) ; Fossil // Graphite Chino ; J.Crew // Timberland Wodehouse Chukkas ; Timberland // Braun X Dieter Rams Watch (similar) : Mr. Porter // Brown Belt w/ Silver Buckle ; Everlane
Are you in the market for a new belt? I would HIGHLY recommend checking out Everlane. These belts are 100% Italian leather and are made in San Francisco, CA. At $45, it's a steal of a deal!
Gray Lightweight Sweatshirt (similar) ; J.Crew // Faded Black Chino ; J.Crew // Layered Topcoat ; Banana Republic // Neon LunarGrand Wingtip (similar) ; Cole Haan // Braun X Dieter Rams Watch (similar) : Mr. Porter // Brown Belt w/ Silver Buckle ; Everlane
A lightweight sweatshirt is a great closet staple. It can basically be worn all year round! Throw a button-up underneath for a warm, office-ready look or simple throw on with a pair of shorts in the spring.
Ash Brushed Twill ; Taylor Stitch // Dark Wash 484 Denim ; J.Crew // Wallace & Barnes Jacket (similar) ; J.Crew // Tobacco Military Boot (similar) ; Cole Haan // Brown Belt w/ Gold Buckle (similar) ; J.Crew // S002G Watch ; Stock
Dark wash denim, tall boots, and a gray flannel-like button up. Does it get any better? Or easier? 3 pieces, people. You have to wear at least those three things just to get into any public establishment, so why not wear something that FITS?
I'll be back on Monday with a summary of my favorite outfits from January! Have a great weekend. :)
