WinterFavorites

With the end of my winter capsule quickly approaching, I thought everyone might like a look at a few of my favorite pieces! I'm always more than happy to pass along great finds, so let's get started.

GrayCrop  StripedTee  WhiteBlouse  BuffaloCheck

Gray Crop Sweater : Banana Republic  //  B&W Striped Tee (similar) : Banana Republic  //  White Silk Blouse : Everlane  //  Buffalo Check (similar) : J.Crew

If you've read the blog at all over the past three months or been around me in person, you've likely seen me in this crop sweater. I really can't say enough good things about it. It's soft, warm, and surprisingly flattering! Highly recommend.

The black and white stripe l/s tee is another great Banana Republic find. I actually purchased this for my fall capsule and have gotten excellent use out of it through this capsule, too. The zipper in the back and leather accents on the shoulders help make this simple t-shirt look a bit fancier. Plus, the super soft material makes it great for layering.

My white Everlane silk blouse has quickly turned into a wardrobe staple. Silk is a new material for me, but I've been quite surprised by the versatility. Plus, my super sensitive skin loves it during the winter months! I'll be anxious to see how this wears as we enter spring and summer.

The buffalo check shirt has been a real life-saver through-out my winter capsule. It has a flannel-like texture, making it super soft and warm. I've tucked it into skirts for work and un-buttoned over jeans on the weekend.

DarkSkinnyJeans  BlackSkinnyPants  SkaterSkirt

Dark Wash Denim : Madewell  //  Black Sloan Pants : Banana Republic  //  Black Skater Skirt (similar) : Madewell

I purchased these "Skinny Skinny" jeans from Madewell in the fall and strangely enough, they fell into my Fall Least Favorites category. As I said back in November, it wasn't for a lack of fit or style, it was simply due to need at the time. This winter, however, these jeans have gotten some great use. They have a slightly higher rise than other jeans I've owned, and I've found that it makes for a very slimming silhouette.

I heard nothing but great things at the Banana Republic Sloan pants, so I knew I needed to give them a try. I'm happy to report that these things live up to the hype! They are a nice and heavy material with a decent amount of stretch - aka, you won't have saggy butt by the end of the work day. I really like the little side vent on the bottom of the pants, too.  For reference, I purchased a 0 Short. I'm 5'4" and wanted something that hit right at my ankle bone. If you're looking for something longer, I would order a regular or long. (The petite was super short on me.)

This skirt from Madewell is awesome. I purchased it for my fall capsule and wore it to death - the same goes for this capsule. It's oh-so comfy and the perfect length for work or play. The A-line cut is very flattering, too.

LeatherJacket  FurParka

Leather Jacket : Zara  //  Fur Parka (similar) : Banana Republic

I've been on the hunt for a leather jacket for what seems like FOREVER. I simply couldn't get myself to spend the money. When I found this jacket at Zara (and landed a coupon for Cyber Monday!), I knew it was meant to be. I've loved this jacket. It's super soft, smells great :), and has so much potential. I'm looking forward to pairing it with some dresses this spring.

My fur parka was an excellent purchase. Strangely enough, winter hasn't been too bad this year so I haven't had to bust it out a lot, but I've been glad to have it on those few days when the temperatures really dropped. The jacket is super warm and the fur hood is great. The best part? There are hidden pockets about waist-high that are fleece-lined. FLEECE! They're amazing. Isn't the color great, too?

ShortBooties  JCrewBooties  SammieBootie

Charlie Boots (similar) : Madewell  //  Laine Boots : J.Crew  // Sammie Boots : Madewell

Shoes, shoes, shoes. Far and away, these puppies are what made my winter capsule a success. I've never owned any quality winter boots before. Boots are expensive! When you only have 37 pieces for 3 months though, quality suddenly becomes top priority. My Charlie booties are perfect for the weekend. The heel height is great for walking around all day without sore tootsies.

My Laine boots were a last-minute purchase for my winter capsule, but they have been worn nearly every day to work. You can easily hide some warm wool socks, and the sleek leather finish looks really dressy.

I was able to snag a great deal on the Madewell Sammie boots, but I would totally pay full price if I had to do it all over again. These things are my favorite. The height looks a little intimidating, but the chunky heel makes these super simple to walk in. The higher shaft height was my biggest hesitation, but it has proven to be extremely flattering and versatile.

Overall, I would say I was much better prepared for my winter capsule than my fall. I learned a lot in those first three months about what works well for me and what does not. It's all about finding quality pieces that fit and can layer. It's amazing what a few months with only 37 items does for your perspective on shopping!
